Maryland Wear and Carry
In order to carry a firearm in Maryland, you must have a Maryland Wear and Carry permit. Permits can be obtained by Maryland residents and residents of other states.
This course is taught by a Maryland State Police Qualified Handgun Instructor and satisfies the 16-hour training requirement for initial permit applications and the 8-hour training requirement for renewals put in place by the Maryland State Police.
In order to receive your certificate for successful course completion, you will be required to complete a 25 round course of fire with a minimum of 70% accuracy.
This course also satisfies the Maryland Handgun Qualification License (HQL) training requirement for Maryland residents.
Initial Permit
March 29, 2025 9AM - 5PM & March 30, 2025 9AM - 5PM
The State of Maryland requires 16-hours of training to be eligible to apply for your Maryland Wear and Carry Permit initially. If you are applying for a permit for the first time, please select this option.
Renewal
March 30, 2025 9AM - 5PM
For those who already have a Maryland Wear and Carry permit and need to renew it, an 8-hour refresher training is required. This also includes the 25 round shooting qualification.
